Study chemistry? Let Farnaz and Mattias inspire you

2020-03-24

Farnaz Gahjeri and Mattias Ekelund both have a background from Uppsala University but also in subjects related to chemistry.
IKEM (The Innovation and Chemistry Industries in Sweden) has interviewed Farnaz and Mattias to show examples of what you as a chemistry student can work with after your studies.

"Quartzene is a fantastic material that promotes sustainability and energy savings. There was only one company in Sweden producing such material. That's why I chose them," says Farnaz Gahjeri, a researcher at Svenska Aerogel. She is also an industrial doctoral student at Uppsala University.

Mattias has studied chemical engineering at Uppsala University. He is also a doctor of organic chemistry. "Sometimes it almost feels like you are an inventor. It is fun to work here, almost every day you have to invent something new together with suppliers and our other departments; the environmental department, the production department to make a product that the customer wants". The clip is unfortunately only available in Swedish.
