Our research is focused on electron transfer and coupled chemical reactions and their investigation by time-resolved spectroscopy and electrochemical techniques.

Most of this work seeks to develop fundamental insight in the reactivity of molecular and hybrid systems with pertinence to chemical energy conversion and storage by photo- and electrochemical processes. In this context we are studying:

  • Catalysts for redox processes generating fuels or chemical feedstock by water splitting or carbon dioxide reduction

  • Photosensitizers for light induced charge separation in solar-to-electrical or direct solar-to-chemical energy conversion
