Cyanobacteria for biofuel
Our main interest is to design robust strains of cyanobacteria to be used in large-scale cultivation for biofuels production. This research is within the biochemical route in the science of the Consortium for Artificial Photosynthesis (CAP), which is a collaborative constellation consisting of strong interdisciplinary research groups from Lund University, KTH and Uppsala University. The goal is to manufacture solar fuels using biological systems.
Research Projects in Stensjö Group
- Protein profiling of filamentous N2 fixing cyanobacteria for H2 production.
- Redox regulation in multicellular cyanobacteria – a proteomics approach.
- The relationship between oxidative stress and cyanotoxin production in cyanobacteria.
- Characterization of proteins involved in stress tolerance in cyanobacteria: Structural and functional characterization of ferritin-like proteins in Nostoc punctiforme.
