Characterization methods for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC)
Toolbox: A series of methods to characterize dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC)
- How are electrons transported through the porous TiO2 film?
- What factors affect charge transport and recombination?
- How can we optimize the DSC?
These are just a few questions that we try to answer in our research. We use a series of characterization techniques, the "Toolbox", that we use on complete DSCs under typical solar cell operating conditions.
The toolbox gives information on:
- Electron transport
- Electron lifelime
- Electron concentration
- Fermi level (electrochemical potential) in TiO2
In addition, we use Photoinduced Absorption spectroscopy to see the spectrum of electrons and intermediates in DSCs.
