Zombie Solar Cells

The field of photovoltaics (PVs) holds the promise of making our buildings “smart” and our portable devices “independent”, if effective energy sources can be developed for use in outdoor and ambient indoor conditions. One very promising alternative to classical, inorganic p-n-junction solar cells lies in the concept of using a molecular system, a conjunction with a sensitizer on a metaloxide semiconductor, a hybrid solar cell.

Our research is focused on synthesis, characterization and understanding of functional, redox active and charge transport materials within coordination chemistry and hybrid solar technologies.
