EuSIPs training school
Sunday 27th - Wednesday 30th September 2015
The Training School is open to early stage researchers from the COST action SIPs (CM1302). Priority will be given to PhD students. For details concerning financial support please contact the grant holder of this COST action.
The training school will start Sunday at 13:00 and runs until Wednesday 13:00.
The trainers will provide lectures, seminars, problems. The clean room, the time resolved UV sepctroscopy, and the electrochemistry sessions will be complemented by lab tours, introductions, etc.
For the x-ray spectroscopy session a problem on XPS and EXAFS curve fitting will be presented. If possible bring your own computer, the software is available as freeware from http://xpspeak.software.informer.com/4.1/ .
In case you have any further questions do not hesitate to contact me.
We will cover the following aspects in this Training School:
- Electro-chemistry. More than just redox-potentials
A valuable tool for fundamental understaning of reaction mechanisms and electronic other properties. How to probe molecular and polymeric materials.
- Time-resolved spectroscopy. Different time-scales and energy scales.
Theoretical background and practical aspects of time-resolved spectroscopy (also hyphenated with electro-chemistry)
- Electron/Charge Transport calculations.
Conductivity calculations of (conjugated) molecules and polymers using non-equillibrium Green function theory.
- Working at a nanoscale.
Possibilities to explore properties at a nanoscale using electronmicroscopy and others.
- Supramolecular Chemistry
Rational and strategic design of supramolecular assemblies through covalent and non-covalent interactions.
